On The Strength of AA and Out-Kicked Poker Hands

Why does it sometimes seem that even with strong poker hands like AA we sometimes tend to get beat? And how do we avoid getting out-kicked with some poker hands? These are common occurrences in real poker games and tournaments.

Strong starting poker hands like AA does sometimes get beat even when it is a strong starting hand. These things happen in gambling card games like poker where anything can happen. When an AA is about to get beat there's nothing much we can do to save it. Just try better next time.

AA against JJ can give us 80 percent odds of taking the pot. The things to do here are do an aggressive play from the start before the flop, observe a tight play, try to have lesser callers if possible, and try to have a good hand-read of the situation. Strong poker hands such as an AA may start to work to our advantage when the above conditions are satisfied.

Poker hands AJ and A10 are often the cause of getting out-kicked in a poker play. We should beware when we hold these hands, especially when there are about 6 or 7 poker players at a table. The thing here is to act at once before opponent show their poker hands---try to see where we really stand and how strong our hand and play is, with a view to our position.

It's important here to calculate what poker hands opponents are holding and try to make them double think about chips prior to the play's end. See if the community cards have an ace. If so, and the opponent continues wagering, and we're merely calling with a poor A10, we're looking for disaster---poker hands like A10 might not stand what a consistently betting opponent might be holding.

We have to make sure what the opponent holds, why the player has the nerve to make a thread of wagers, by raising. This gives us a clear reading of poker hands---ours and the opponent's. It's better to know what the opponent holds---AQ or AK---prior to poker hands turn-over, not post turn-over. Here is where we have to employ our ability to see poker tells and couple this with overall hand-reads, plus a sharp analysis of betting patterns, noting the bets of the opponent pre and post flop.

It is vital to ascertain actual poker hands values and strength before we play them to the end.
